Racke has sold five of its wine brands and its bottling plant in Mainz-Hechtsheim to GCF
With approximately 100m in group sales and sales quantity of around 40 million bottles in business year 2006/2007, Racke GmbH + Co. KG (Bingen am Rhein) (“Racke”) is one of the leading companies within the German wine industry. Alongside its own lines (Blanchet and Vitae), Racke also produces a whole array of well-known brands, such as Condorniu, Lamberti and Yellow Tail. The third pillar of the company consists of international joint venture wines such as Golden Kaan and Espiritu de Chile. Racke currently employs 140 staff at its main facility in Bingen am Rhein; a further 60 employees are located in Mainz.
In order to further promote its new company strategy, Racke is selling its Amselfelder/Rosière, Amselkeller, Bongeronde, Fuego and Viala brands as well as the bottling plant in Mainz-Hechtsheim including all the resident workers to Les Grands Chais de France (Petersbach, France) (“LGCF”), one of the largest wine companies in France. The company, with its headquarters in Petersbach in Alsace, achieved sales of almost 600m last year with sales volume of around 350m bottles. The transaction is subject to approval by the antitrust authority.
“Not only is the great outcome of this transaction owed to the efforts and experience of Lincoln International, but also the considerable optimised purchase price”, Moller-Racke, CEO and President of the Racke Group.
The successful conclusion of this transaction marks yet another cross border deal for Lincoln International and also fits in extremely well with the company’s expansion strategy, also illustrated by the recent opening of an office in London; the company is well armed for future projects of this kind.
