What’s Up? | Spotlight Podcast: European LPMI
Originally published by Whats Up Corporate Finance? on March 20, 2025.
Michael Drill, Managing Director and Head of Germany, was recently featured on the What’s Up? Spotlight podcast to discuss the launch of the European Lincoln Private Market Index (LPMI).
The Europe LPMI is the first publicly available index of its kind, offering proprietary insights into the performance of privately held European companies. Built on data from 250 portfolio companies, the index serves as a critical benchmark for private equity (PE) firms and investors, enabling comparisons to listed companies and tracking trends across high-growth sectors.
In the podcast episode, Michael and the host discuss the key takeaways from the index’s first report. Most notably, PE portfolio companies have shown enterprise value growth of 11% annually over the last four years, compared to 3.4% for listed companies. The index is set to gain importance in Europe as private equity firms and investors increasingly rely on its insights.
