SUEZ Environnement has acquired Poseidon
Lincoln International (“Lincoln”), a leading global mid-market investment bank, is pleased to announce that SUEZ Environnement (the “Group”), via its subsidiary Degrémont, has acquired Poseidon, a Canadian company specialized in compact and high-performance separation systems for industrial water treatment.
As a full-service equipment supplier, Poseidon has earned a solid reputation for the design and manufacturing of state-of-the-art dissolved air flotation (DAF) units for numerous industrial markets, most notably in the oil and gas, pulp and paper, and food and beverage sectors. Poseidon’s proprietary equipment can operate at extremely high loading rates — up to 500 m3/hr in a container — which are unequalled by any conventional flotation technology currently available in the market. Based in Montreal and Lévis in Quebec, Poseidon was founded in 1986. The company has its own manufacturing workshop, which has received the approval of major industrial companies. The company also brings a large portfolio of references in the industrial sector throughout the world.
With Poseidon, SUEZ Environnement strengthens its portfolio of major industrial clients in North America, the Middle East and China. Poseidon’s technologies broaden the Group’s capabilities for the downstream oil and gas market and will allow the Group to address the complete production process of pulp and paper industrialists.
“Lincoln had a key role in the origination and successful completion of this transaction, in line with SUEZ Environnement’s growth strategy to be the premier provider of innovative and value-added solutions for industrial clients worldwide,” said Thierry Bergero, Acquisition Director of Degrémont.
“The close relationship between SUEZ Environnement and Lincoln, focused on implementing the Group’s industrial water strategy globally, led to Poseidon’s acquisition, following the transactions on Process Group (Australia) and Evatherm (Switzerland) closed in 2014, these three cross-border acquisitions being advised by Lincoln,” said Guillaume Suizdak, Managing Director at Lincoln.
Lincoln acted as the exclusive financial advisor of SUEZ Environnement and Degrémont, initiating contacts with the shareholder and CEO of Poseidon, assisting with building the investment case, advising on negotiations, reviewing documentation and coordinating all steps until closing of the transaction.
