Metalsa has sold its transmission components business to Schmiedetechnik Plettenberg
Metalsa has agreed to sell its transmission components business to Schmiedetechnik Plettenberg. Lincoln International acted as exclusive mergers and acquisitions advisor to Metalsa in this transaction.
Metalsa is a Monterey, Mexico-based Tier One supplier to the automotive industry. Its products include frames, hinge systems, transmission modules, body structures and fuel tanks. The company is part of the privately owned Proeza Group, which generated revenues of USD 2.8 billion. Metalsa operates manufacturing plants in 12 countries across the globe, in major economies like the U.S., China and Germany.
Metalsa’s transmission components plant in Witten is a vertically integrated facility, manufacturing shift forks and other kinematic assemblies and employing approximately 340 employees. The sale of the production site is a key strategic step for Metalsa / Proeza to refocus its core business on body and chassis components.
Schmiedetechnik Plettenberg produces transmission, engine and powertrain parts. In 2014, the company had revenues of about Euro 105 million and runs four production sites in Germany with about 500 employees. The acquisition of Metalsa’s production site in Witten is a very good strategic fit for Schmiedetechnik Plettenberg’s business.
