Founders and investors have sold Sulzer Schmid to RES
Sulzer Schmid
Sulzer Schmid, based in Switzerland, is a pioneer in autonomous drone inspections for the renewable energy sector. Their AI-powered 3DX™ Blade Platform revolutionizes blade inspections and repairs, offering 100% coverage and high-quality data. The powerful and user-friendly SaaS platform helps customers in building comprehensive lifetime records of wind turbine rotor blades across entire fleets and portfolios, providing valuable insights through trend analysis and benchmarking. With 100 gigawatts (GW) of inspections and over 50 GW of serviced turbines, Sulzer Schmid’s platform allows users to accurately define blade repair needs and schedule preventive measures. This results in faster, safer, and more cost-effective operations, delivering significant operations and maintenance (O&M) cost savings and increased production efficiency.
The Deal
Following a comprehensive process involving both strategic and financial investors, the team of Sulzer Schmid found a strategic partner in RES, the world’s largest independent renewable energy company. The deal is the latest example of RES’ continued drive to combine its global O&M service expertise with growing digital solutions products to help optimize the value of its customer’s assets. Sulzer Schmid’s 3DX™ technology will be integrated into RES’ digital solutions, providing comprehensive and technologically leading solutions to its customers. The acquisition aligns with RES’ strategy to combine its global O&M service capabilities with digital solutions and drive long-term success, marking an exciting new chapter for both companies.
