United Petfood
United Petfood, headquartered in Ghent, Belgium, is an international pet food manufacturer specializing in private label dry pet food, wet pet food, treats and snacks. The business operates pet food manufacturing facilities in Belgium, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Romania and Turkey and runs five production facilities in France, three in Poland, three in the United Kingdom and six in the Netherlands.
The Deal
Wellness Pet Company engaged Lincoln International, a leading global private capital investment banking advisory firm, as the exclusive financial advisor. The Lincoln team provided valuable industry expertise in the pet sector and cross-border execution capabilities and expertly managed all aspects of the process including the preparatory, marketing, negotiation and due diligence phases of the transaction. The Lincoln team’s comprehensive approach led to a successful sale to an international strategic buyer. This transaction provides United Petfood the opportunity to enter the U.S. market and strengthen its international position in the pet food industry. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Wellness Pet Company is the largest North America-based independent branded premium natural pet food producer. The acquisition represents Wellness’s production facility in Mishawaka, Indiana that currently produces dry dog, dry cat and cat treats. Wellness acquired a substantially larger facility in 2022 in Decatur, Arkansas, which is well-suited to support the company’s growth in the near and medium term.

This will ensure a smooth transition for our team members who have been working at the facility and been part of the Wellness family for many years.
